The role of the Tracking and Evaluation team encompasses two key functions with respect to the performance of the UF CTSI:

  • Tracking and Evaluation is charged with evaluating the progress of each CTSI program in meeting its goals. This first function is served by (a) assisting each program to define the process by which it will operate, (b) helping each program define appropriate metrics by which it will evaluate its productivity, and (c) identifying key performance variables that will enable each program to clearly identify its role in the overall CTSI enterprise
  • A more complex function of Tracking and Evaluation is to help each program utilize its data in a way that integrates its performance with other elements of the CTSI to enhance its performance beyond a simple sum of parts. While the second function addresses the ‘value added’ concept (i.e., what is specifically gained by having a CTSI?), it also involves using data to help each program forge more effective synergies and efficiencies that enhance scientific productivity. That is, we intend that Tracking and Evaluation function in both an evaluative and facilitative capacity.

The primary goal of the Tracking and Evaluation team is to evaluate the research and educational activities of the programs which make up the collective CTSI. Some of the meathods that will be used to evaluate these activities are:

  • Interviews
  • Surveys
  • Program data analysis
