CTSI alum Dr. Guangbin Xia receives NIH K08 award

Congratulations to Guangbin Xia, M.D., Ph.D., assistant professor in the department of neurology, on his recent K08 award from the National Institute of Arthritis and Musculoskeletal and Skin Diseases. The award will support his research on “Genome correction of Myotonic Dystrophy type 1 iPS cells by TALEN technology.” Dr. Xia’s specialty is neurology, and his clinical interests are amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, muscular dystrophy, neuromuscular disorders and peripheral neuropathy.

In addition to his other degrees and distinctions, Dr. Xia holds an M.S.-CTS, a 30-credit-hour degree designed to provide a comprehensive didactic curriculum and training program in clinical and translational science. This degree is available through the CTSI’s Training and Professional Development Program.
