“A sociolinguistic-enabled web application to precision health intervention for African Americans”

Janice Krieger

PI: Janice Krieger, Ph.D.

This study will examine 750 African American patients between the ages of 50 and 75 that are out of guidelines of colorectal cancer (CRC) screening with a virtual health assistant (VHA). Two questions will be addressed: 1) How different levels of dialect density of the linguistic features of African American English (AAE) influence the perceived trustworthiness of a Black VHA and 2) how African American speakers accommodate their voice responses to speech which contains different levels of AAE linguistic features.
