Introduction to Clinical/Translational Research
ICTR consists of 20 hours of lectures by senior UF faculty. The material will give the learner an introduction to methods utilized in clinical and translational research and resources available to conduct clinical and translational research at UF.
There are two options to enroll in ICTR:
- Credit: ICTR is listed as GMS 7093 (2 credit hours) available in Summer B (registration is March 20-June 29) in the UF course catalog and is offered over 10 consecutive afternoons around July 17-31 and led by Dr. Ron Shorr. Completion of the 20 hours of lectures and participation in small group sessions is required for credit.
- Non-Credit: Available as self-paced completion of the 20 hours of lectures over a semester through Canvas (UFID required). Non-Credit participants can receive a certificate of completion upon request.
To enroll in either course, please email Christian A. Rodriguez (chrisar94@ufl.edu).
Course Description
This course is offered by the UF Clinical and Translational Science Institute to UF Health Science Center junior faculty, fellows, Ph.D. students and others interested in patient-oriented research careers.
It is a highly interactive series of 10 sessions led by leading faculty in the UF Health Science Center. It includes basic elements of study design, database design and management, health center resources, regulatory issues, and biostatistical considerations.
The course also includes practical, interactive small-group sessions to develop an interdisciplinary protocol. Individuals wishing to participate in the small group research experience must register for graduate credit.
We ask that clinical fellows who attend this course be relieved of all clinical duties during each session.
