Innovative discoveries that improve patient care and health depend on a well-trained, multidisciplinary workforce with access to high-quality professional development. The CTSI’s Translational Workforce Development (TWD) program creates, centralizes, and shares educational opportunities for clinical and translational research team members – staff, students, trainees, faculty, and clinical partners – known as Clinical Research Professionals (CRPs). Through collaborative training programs, courses, networks, and workshops, we support current CRPs and grow Florida’s clinical and translational research workforce.

Clinical Research Professionals (CRPs) contribute to the planning, implementation, and management of clinical trials and research studies. They serve in roles such as coordinators, research nurses, pharmacists, investigators, data managers, and regulatory specialists, upholding Good Clinical Practice (GCP) standards (SoCRA, 2025). CRPs are essential to the success of clinical research, ensuring protocol adherence, participant safety, and data integrity (ACRP, 2025).
Translational Workforce Development (TWD) supports a skilled clinical research workforce capable of advancing scientific discoveries into health solutions (NCATS, 2025). TWD efforts include role-specific, competency-based education; training programs and mentor networks; career pathway support; and cross-disciplinary collaboration, across the UF-FSU Clinical and Translational Science Award (CTSA), including joint efforts featured on the FSU TWD site. This TWD Education site provides CRPs with educational resources, training modules, and professional development opportunities to enhance their growth, retention, and impact across the healthcare, academic, and research settings.
