The University of Florida has a long and strong history of extension activities through the Institute for Food and Agricultural Sciences (IFAS). A central mission of the university and of IFAS is to engage the community in direct application of new knowledge. With nineteen research centers and demonstration sites across the state, county extension offices in every county, and over 100 years of serving the people of the State of Florida, UF/IFAS extension is a federal, state, and county partnership dedicated to developing knowledge in agriculture, human and natural resources, and the life sciences and to making that knowledge accessible to sustain and enhance the quality of human life.

The Academic Health Center of the University of Florida is one of the nation’s leading biomedical research centers. The UF CTSI is an element of the Academic Health Center whose mission is to improve human health by accelerating the translation of scientific discoveries into practical applications and practices for the diagnosis, treatment, prevention and cure of human diseases.

Together, UF/IFAS Extension and the UF Academic Health Center are committed to advancing the health of the citizens of Florida through timely, active partnership with the people of the state, across the state.
